CRYOGENIC TREATMENT SERVICES

Cryogenic treatment is commonly used in the firearms industry to improve material stability, relieve internal stresses, and extend the service life of components by exposing them to ultra-low temperatures. Many conventional processors rely on a liquid nitrogen spray bar to reach around −300 °F. This method can lead to uneven cooling, sudden temperature changes, and inconsistent treatment across components, increasing the risk of thermal shock and variability between batches.

The cryogenics facility we partner with avoids these issues. By not using direct liquid nitrogen spraying, it delivers controlled, uniform temperature transitions, reducing the risk of thermal shock and ensuring consistent results for every component.

Spray-bar systems are typically rated to −300 °F, but they often struggle to maintain that temperature evenly and can experience temperature gradients or overshoot and undershoot. In contrast, the facility’s systems can reach −315 °F, providing extra thermal margin and greater confidence that the entire payload achieves full, consistent cryogenic exposure. This leads to improved repeatability, more uniform material properties, better dimensional stability, and reliable performance, consistently exceeding the capabilities of traditional spray-bar methods.
